Orange Ice Cream Variations
There are two ways that you can enjoy this ice cream.
Keep it simple and enjoy the ice cream as is with all the glory of it’s creamy orange flavor.
Or you can add some chocolate to the orange flavor.
Have you ever tried those chocolate oranges?
You know, they’re shaped like an orange and when you eat it, you can even break off each individual orange slice and eat it like an orange.
Best of all, the flavor of these oranges is literally a delicious combination of chocolate and orange.
If you want to recreate that flavor, you can add shaved chocolate to this ice cream.
Either way you make it, you will love this unique combination.
Trust me, you’ll want to make it again!
How to Shave Chocolate
Shaved chocolate always used to intimidate me.
If a recipe called for it, I would simply substitute chocolate chips.
But then I learned a well kept secret that changed my life forever – it’s extremely easy and simple to shave chocolate.
Best of all, you already have the tools you need to shave chocolate right in your kitchen.
Grab Your Chocolate
All you need is a bar of chocolate.
Make sure that it’s at room temperature.
You don’t want it too cold or you’ll have trouble shaving it.
You don’t want to too hot (be careful if it’s a hot sunny day!) or it will be too mushy to shave.
Grab Your Tools
Next, grab your tools to shave your chocolate.
You can use a potato peeler (this will produce larger shavings) or a cheese grater (this will produce smaller shavings)(use the part that you would use to make shredded cheese).
Start shaving!
Changing the Color
This recipe makes an ice cream with a soft orange color.
If you’d like to intensify the color add some food coloring until you achieve your desired color before you process it in your ice cream maker.
Serving Tip
Why not serve this delicious ice cream in a hollowed-out orange rind?
